March 28, 2007 (capture), April 1 (processing).
Reprocessed version of capture from March 28. Input 4 AVIs, 3880 frames in total. Seleced 978 frames using quality and difference processing in K3CCDTools. Then 2x aligned these frames and stacked them, again in K3CCDTools. Transferred to Registax4 via PNG where wavelets were applied, plus RGB alignment and initial colour balancing was performed. Saved to TIFF and final colour balancing and histogram stretching was done in Photoshop CS2. Saved to TIFF and converted to JPG with ImageVIEWca. |

December 15, 2004.
The bright ellipse is Saturn and its rings. It is overexposed on purpose so that the faint moons become visible. |

December 29, 2003, 21:30 UT.
This is the same image as below, but with the moon Titan added in the correct location (small dot at upper right) and presented the way it visually appears in a telescope. This image was used in the TV program "Newton" on Norwegian NRK1, see http://www.nrk.no/programmer/tv/newton/4406573.html Click image at left to see full resolution. |

November 02, 2002. First sighting of Cassini this season. C8/f32, Vesta 675 SC webcam. 2fps for 60 seconds generated this image. Transparency was poor, and the resolution suffered. Little turbulence though. |

November 19, 2001. C8, 3x barlow, Vesta 675 webcam. This image is my first that without doubt resolves the Cassini division cleanly! Scope collimated on Polaris, temp. -4C, no wind, low mist. |

October 22, 2001. C8, 3x barlow, Vesta 675 webcam. Seeing was not really good enough for the high magnification, especially not since the image was shot through the most impressive aurora I have seen in over 20 years. The Saturn image is still my best so far. |
saturn_20011018.jpg 7.86 KB |
October 18, 2001. C8, prime focus, Vesta 675 webcam. I was in a big hurry when this image was shot, clouds were approaching quickly. No time to use barlow, no time to focus properly. Still it is quite ok. |

Sept. 23, 2001. C8, 3x TeleVue barlow, Vesta 675 webcam. |

Jan. 13, 2001. Vixen 90mm refractor, 20mm eyepiece (?). 35mm Film. SLR camera. The scope was on an aluminium tripod and there was no RA motor. Exposure was 1/4 or 1/2 second. This image illustrates how naive I was! |
